Here has finally come the 3rd edition of the Grand Prix of Pau, still organized by "Rayon d'Action" and its representative Eric Hélaine, in association with the ASAC Basco-Béarnais (automobile club sport which is affiliated to the French federation of Automobile Sport) and the city of Pau.

This year there have been changes in the presented events. Indeed, cars of Grand Prix with front and back engines (more recent than respectively 59 and 66) have been replaced by the 1958/60 Junior formula (front engine) and by the 1961/63 Junior formula (back engine). There was also the Ford formula (1966/1981).

Faithful as ever, classic Formula 1, formula 2, Formula 3, sports cars, GT cars and prototypes found once again the gardens of the Bearn.

For 3 years I've been astounded by all these drivers who for the most part have reached a well respectable age competing on the track with iron spirit and determination.

On the tracks, frets and brilliant feats are quite common and people could feel a lump in their throat while an Alfa Romeo TZ spun round at the station bend… Phew! There's no damage and the show goes on…

At least a little recipe:

Chose a race : Prototype or F1

Go to the middle of the right line, at the level of the footbridge spanning over the track.

Go onto the footbridge and wait. Yes, I know, you can't see anything, but you're just in the middle of the track, 13,12 feet (4 metres) above the ground and cars run just underneath you and at top speed!

No pictures then, but a real sound, and what a sound! The footbridge vibrates, shakes, sways, a shock wave go through your bones. And everything stops till the next monster.

Let me give you an advice for next year : try this recipe ;-)
