The historic Grand Prix of Pau was unanimously elected "Best event of the year" coming ahead of very famous races such as Old timer from Nurburgring, the Golden Age Prize from Dijon or even the Oulton Park Gold Cup.

The world car sport Gotha was in London on last 26th of February so as to elect bests of its peers. Inhabitants of Pau may be delighted for many reasons since their historic Grand Prix was unanimously elected as "Best event of the year".

In spite of its relative youth, the town of Pau did get great honours. Huge champions Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read presented the prize to Patrick Quinou, the representative of Rayon d'Action Company, which organizes the historic Grand Prix every year. But it's not all!! Thanks to his incredible courage and his performance in Pau which has left his mark on all memories, the crack racing driver James Diffey got the much desired prize of "Best driver".

Last year in Pau - every addict would remember it - James in his Porsche was rooted to the spot on the starting line and began the race 3 laps later than the others. Along a crazy race, he went up in the ranking while exploding three times the lap top speed. Nothing could have stopped that demoniac pilot who was in third position two laps before the end of the race.

At the last lap, he got second. Nobody can forget the standing ovation whom mechanics pilots and the audience allotted him! James Diffey has already announced his participation to the next event in Pau and will probably be the idol of the whole 2006 crew.
The British photograph Jim Houlgrave, a habitué of Pau, who graciously gave photos of the soiree and of Diffey got the prize for the "Best Journalist of the Year".
